Mt. Vernon’s D-Fine Fitness operation to soon have new ownership, name

The D-Fine Fitness center will soon have new owners. Nine years after they opened the fitness center, Adam and Cassi Boswell have sold their gym to Michael and Samantha Morgan, owners of TR Fitness. The transition to make D-Fine Fitness a new TR Fitness location has already begun, though the Morgans officially take ownership of the building on Thursday, Oct. 1.
Michael Morgan said their new TR Fitness facility in Mt. Vernon is their fifth location. The couple owns TR Fitness centers in Aurora, Mountain Grove, Branson and Leadington; they will also soon break ground on a new location in Neosho.
Morgan said that they chose to purchase D-Fine Fitness because it was a good fit for them.
“We were approached by D-Fine Fitness,” he said, “and this fits right into what we do with all of our other gyms. It’s eerily similar to what we’ve done as far as being in a smaller town and being split between classes and gym and offering classes and tanning, as well. If we had built a gym, if we had done a TR Fitness here, it would have been very similar to D-Fine Fitness.”
Samantha Morgan said that once they take ownership, the biggest change to D-Fine Fitness will be that members now have 24-hour access to the gym, and they would also be able to work out at any of the TR Fitness locations.
“They’ll also get classes and tanning included with their membership,” she said, adding that existing memberships would be grandfathered in.
Cassi said they decided to sell D-Fine Fitness because the time was just right.
“We felt like our season was done,” she said.
Adam added that they felt it was time to take it a bit easier.
“(We’ll) hopefully spend a little bit more time together, maybe at home, and concentrate on some other ventures that we may do,” he said. “But with kids growing up and getting out of the house, it’s time slow down and relax a little bit.”
Cassi said that some of their members were a little disappointed that they were selling the facility, but have also warmed up to the new owners.
“I think they have mixed feelings,” she said. “They’re getting to know Michael and Samantha better, and they really like them. I don’t think people like change, but once it happens, everybody adjusts and it’s just another day.”
 Adam added that the facility would be in good hands with the Morgans.
“I think they’re going to do great,” he said. “We couldn’t have a better buyer. We talked to some other people about buying before Samantha and Mike, but this was a good fit. They’ll do really well.”
The Boswells also said that the members would continue to see them at the gym.
“We’re still going to be here,” Cassi said. “I’m still going to be teaching classes and I’m still going to be doing personal training, so I’m still going to be here.”
“We’re going to be regulars here and work out,” Adam added. “None of that will change.”
