Mt. Vernon boys tennis Moore, Hennum advance to state in doubles

The Mt. Vernon boys tennis team competed in districts at Monett High School on Tuesday, May 9, and the doubles team of Malachi Hennum and Tyler Moore won their doubles matches advancing them to sectionals held at Spirit of ’76 Park in Mt. Vernon on Friday, May 12. They defeated the New Covenant doubles team of Brody Bennett and Aidan Henderson by the scores of 6-3 and 6-4 to advance to the state championship tournament which will be held this Friday and Saturday, May 19-20, at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield. Pairing will be announced on Wednesday, May 17.
“Tyler and Malachi have worked extremely hard and deserve all the success they have achieved. I could not be more proud of them,” said Mt. Vernon tennis coach Tom Cox.
