Mt. Vernon city pool reopens

The Mt. Vernon city pool has officially reopened. The grand reopening Monday, May 29, followed more than a year of upgrades thanks to voters who OK'd a bond issue in November 2021 that paid for the major enhancement. The pool now boasts slides, a lazy river, baskeball goal, climbing wall, a zero entry and other water features for kids. The new aquatic offering is a stark improvement over the former pool which was leaking 30,000 gallons a water per day during its last season in 2021. (Photo by Ryan Squibb)
