Mt. Vernon Farmer’s Market to return for 2020 season

The Mt. Vernon Farmers’ Market will return for the 2020 growing season. The revival of the market, which has seen a decline in vendors in recent years, will be under the auspices of the Mt. Vernon Community Garden volunteers in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Agriculture’s “Missouri Grown” program.
Community Garden President KenNY Aughe said the garden membership wanted to open access to the Farmers’ Market to the widest possible number of local producers. To that end, the group has voted to set the booth space rent for the market at $20 per season.  
The parking lot of the Mount Vernon Area Chamber of Commerce will remain the location of the market. An opening date for the market will be set based on how the growing season progresses but late May or early June is anticipated and will be publicized on the Mt.Vernon Community Garden Facebook page.
