On Saturday, Dec. 7, 10 members of the Mt. Vernon High School band traveled to audition for spots on the 2025 All-State Band and Orchestra. Two members walked away with seats. Justin Wright earned First Chair Tuba in the All-State Orchestra and Madalynn Copley earned Seventh Chair Trumpet in the All-State Band.
This is the highest individual accomplishment that a band student can earn at the high school level. The very best band students in the state of Missouri having already auditioned into their respective All-District Band, audition again for a select number of very competitive spots for All-State. Students from all districts/classes compete against each other for these spots it is not divided into separate class/school sizes at this level.
Both invested countless hours of practice and time to prepare for the auditions.
