MV tennis dominates district doubles

After a fantastic regular season that saw the Lady Mt’neers tennis team go 10-3 and receive the top seed in their district tournament that took place last week, two representatives will move on to the state meet.
After earning the top seed in the Class 1 District 10 tournament, the Lady Mt’neers defeated Clever 5-2 to advance to the district championship. However, the team dream ended at the hands of College Heights, 5-4.
While the Lady Mt’neers were eliminated from team contention, doubles were owned by Mt. Vernon as the team of Audrey Bittle and Molly Burk defeated Addie Hall and Raegan Pendleton 6-1 and 6-3, however, they both advanced to sectional play.
Bittle and Burk took on a duo from Greenwood where they took care of business, 6-4 and 6-3, to advance to the state tournament. Hall and Pendleton took on a pair from Willow Springs, but were defeated 6-1 and 6-2.
Bittle and Burk will advance to the doubles portion of the state meet this week at Cooper Sports Complex.
