MVHS performs well at districts, competes at state
The Mt. Vernon High School track team competed at districts on May 13. The following athletes qualified to move on to state sectionals on Saturday, May, 20, in West Plains.
Girls
- 4x100 relay team of Adalyn Mesicek, Cameryn Cornell, Kadence Krempges and Nina Cowherd, first place—and new school record—with a time of 50.97 seconds.
- 4x200 relay team of Adalyn Mesicek, Cameryn Cornell, Kadence Krempges and Nina Cowherd, third place and new personal record with time of 1:49:44.
- Nina Cowherd (12) - 100m dash- second place, 13.21 seconds.
- Cameryn Cornell (9)- high jump- third place, distance 1.47m.
- Kadence Krempges (12) - pole vault- fourth place, 2.6m.
Boys
- Jacob Erpelding (9) - second place in 110m hurdles, with a time of 16.43 seconds.
- Earl Trimble (12) - second place finish in pole vault with a height of 11’6”.
State Tournament
After competing at sectionals, the following athletes qualified to move on to the state tournament, which will be held on May 26 in Jefferson City.
Girls

- 4x200 relay team of Adalyn Mesicek, Cameryn Cornell, Kadence Krempges and Nina Cowherd, third place.
- Nina Cowherd (12) - 100m dash, fourth place.
- Cameryn Cornell (9) - high jump, third place.
- Kadence Krempges (12) - pole vault, fourth place.
Boys
- Jacob Erpelding (9) - second place in 110m hurdles with a time of 16.09 seconds.
