O’Brien

William “Bill” Robert O’Brien Jr., 62, of Lamar, passed away Aug. 30, 2019, at Freeman Hospital West after suffering a heart attack.
O’Brien was born Sept. 5, 1956 in St. Joseph to William Robert O’Brien Sr. and Verneta Alice (Johnson) O’Brien. He graduated from Lamar High School in the class of 1974. In 2004, he married Karen Lee Wilson in Nevada.
He worked at O’Sullivan Industries for over 31 years in edgebanding and finished in the Engineering Office, worked six years at General Mills in Joplin and most recently in maintenance at the Lamar Walmart. He enjoyed fishing and Lamar Tiger football.
Survivors include: his wife; son, William “Billy” Robert O’Brien III of Lamar; step-sons, David (Andrea) Sullivan of Republic and Brad (Megan) Wilson of Monett; step-daughter, Amber (Tony) Wilson of Peculiar; brother, Charlie Mattox of Lamar; and 13 grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, William Sr. and Verneta O’Brien; sisters, Vernell McPheater, Linda Bundy, and Jeannie Workman; and granddaughter, Olivia Didway.
Funeral services were held Sept. 5, 2019 at Daniel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested and made payable to Donate Life America in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
