Oreo Ice Cream Dessert

The Record’s “Recipe of the Week”:
Oreo Ice Cream Dessert by Becky Nield

30 crushed Oreos
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 gal. softened ice cream
1/2 cup butter
1-1/3 cups sugar
3 squares semisweet chocolate
1 can evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Cool Whip

Combine the crushed Oreos and 1/4 cup melted butter. Press into a 9x13 pan. Cover with the ice cream.

Melt the 1/2 cup butter, sugar, and chocolate over low heat. Gradually add the evaporated milk. Cook, stirring until the mixture thickens. Remove from the heat. Add the vanilla. Pour over the ice cream. Spread evenly. Freeze until the sauce sets. Top with the Cool Whip and freeze again.
