PHYLLIS JEAN KLEINE

Phyllis Jean Kleine, 88, of Pierce City passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025. She was born in Lawrence County on Oct. 12, 1936; the daughter of Jess and Ola Mae (Martin) Aleshire.
She graduate from Mt. Vernon High School in 1954 and was a homemaker while raising her children. She then went on to work at Nickerson Farms Restaurant, Food Fair bakery and for the Mt. Vernon Schools. She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ for 69 years and served on the Zion Memorial Cemetery board.
On Dec. 30, 1955, she married Willis Gene Kleine in Mt. Vernon. They were married for 67 years before he passed away on Nov. 3, 2022.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet (Mark) Curl of Mt. Vernon; her son, Jim (Lorna) Kleine of Stotts City; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two more on the way; as well as two brothers, Bobby Aleshire of Stotts City and Loyd Aleshire of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willis; six brothers: Donal, Johnnie, Linnie, Leon, Lawrence and Richard “Elroy” Aleshire and two sisters, Elizabeth Lawyer and Ethel Clayton.
Services were held on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Zion United Church of Christ with burial at Zion Memorial Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Fossett Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
