Some 250 supporters turn out to Mt Vernon Night at Springfield Cards
Much of the Springfield Cardinals crowd went green last week as the organization hosted Mt. Vernon Night Tuesday, Aug. 8, which drew a large group of Mt'neers to Hammons Field in downtown Springfield. In attendance were approximately 250 Mt. Vernon residents, as well as the state-winning Lady Mt'neers softball squad who were recognized on the field for their accomplishments. Throwing out the first pitch prior to the minor league game was former Mt. Vernon softball pitcher, Harley Daniels and catching that pitch was former Lady Mt'neer softballer Allie Schubert.
Good news continued on the diamond that evening, as the Springfield Cardinals bested the San Antonio Missions, 5-4.
