Raymond Lee Thompson

Raymond Lee Thompson, 78, of Freistatt, passed away March 31, 2019, while at Freeman Hospital in Joplin. Thompson was born Sept. 4, 1940, in Nowata County, Okla. to David “Bill” and Audrey (Miller) Thompson. In 1960, Raymond was married to Florence Beatrice “Bea” Harkins in Alluwe, Okla. and from this union two sons were born. For many years he managed Local Consumers Grocery Stores and later in life owned an amusement service business. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling with friends and family.
Thompson is survived by: sons, Rick (Taynea) Thompson of Freistatt and Tony (Kristen) Thompson of Freistatt; brothers, Howard (Shirley) Thompson of McCallister, Okla., Marvin (Dorothy) Thompson of Tulsa, Okla.; sisters, Margie Heady of Coffeyville, Okla., Terry (Greg) Pence of Joplin; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Per Thompson’s wishes, he has asked to be cremated and the family plans to have a celebration of life at a later date. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home.
