Red, White & Boom a go

Mt. Vernon’s annual Fourth of July celebration Red, White & Boom is set to go off this year as scheduled, Friday, July 3, but with limitations. Announced last week by the Red, White & Boom Committee, this year’s event will be slightly different than in years past.
Due to new guidelines set forth by state health officials, concessions and novelties will no longer be allowed for purchase. There will also be no free swim or laser tag this year.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Papa Green Shoes beginning on the stage at 7 p.m. and the fireworks display, presented by A.M. Pyrotechnics, will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Those attending are asked to observe social distancing as much as possible. Attendees are welcome to bring chairs and picnic or watch the display from their own vehicles.
The family friendly event is open to the public at no charge and will be held at the Spirit of ‘76 Park.
