Richard Hugh Stroud

Richard (Dick) Hugh Stroud, 83, lived in Aurora. He was born Dec. 3, 1941. He passed away on Aug. 30, 2025, comfortably in his home surrounded by family.
He shared 65 beautiful years of marriage with Joyce Stroud. Their love story was an inspiration to all who knew them. Together they created a lifetime of memories raising a family, including their two children, Rod and Tami. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing at jams with his band, Rusty Strings. He and Joyce spent many of their days together enjoying music. He was the most loving and compassionate man, always putting others before himself and teaching us what it truly means to live with kindness.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Stroud; his sister, Margret (Tudy) and husband Dave Morrison; his children, Rod (Tammy) Stroud and Tami (Paul) Eblen; six cherished granddaughters; as well as 19 great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Ruth Stroud, his in-laws, Allen and Mary Hutchison and his siblings, Clara May Banks and Audrey Hutchison.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora.
