Rodney Douglas Barnes

Rodney Douglas Barnes, 74, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away on February 28, 2021. Rodney was born on February 11, 1947 to Roy and Eulas (Hedrick) Barnes of Reeds Spring, MO.
Rodney graduated from Reeds Spring High School with the class of 1965. He married his beloved wife, Susie, on January 22, 1966. They had four children-- Scott, Teresa, Dana, and Lori.
Rodney served as a Lawrence County commissioner for 14 years. He was active in several farming organizations including the Soil and Water Conservation District, the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association and the Mid-America Dairymen/ Dairy Farmers of America.  Rodney actively attended James River Assembly.
Along with his wife, Rodney spent much of his time running a successful dairy farm in Miller, Missouri. He was an avid outdoorsman and could often be found hunting or fishing with his family.  Rodney is fondly remembered by his family for his honesty, strong moral principles, and his love for the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Barnes; parents, Roy and Eulas Barnes; his brothers Robert and Loren Barnes; and sisters Erma Sickman, Louise Crume, and a sister at birth.
Rodney is survived by children, Scott Barnes (Heather) of Miller, Teresa Goodman (Daryl) of Bois D’Arc, Dana Weldy (Ronnie), and Lori Hicks (Steve) of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Lindsay Wells (Dustin), Ashton Botts (Brent), Stephanie Barnes, Derrick Goodman, Randal Barnes, Danielle Goodman, Auston Weldy (Logan), Morgan Plummer (Corey), Robert Barnes, Makayla Jack (Jordan), Colton Hicks, Caitlin Hicks, Saydie Barnes, Audrey Barnes, and Lexie Weldy; great-grandchildren, Steven, Kenzie, Keagan, Khloe, Kipton, Ny, Londae, Ryatt, Anna, Henry, and Jensen; siblings, Faye Walthall (Dan), Joyce Washington, and Patricia Rogers (Kenny) and sister-in-law Thelma Barnes.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 pm. at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 5, 2021, at the Church in Action in Mt. Vernon. Burial will follow at the Summit Cemetery northeast of Mt. Vernon.
