Ruth Ann Carter

Ruth Ann Carter, 88, passed away Nov. 13, 2019 at her home in Loma Linda Joplin.
She was born June 23, 1931 in Monett, to late Roscoe Jackson and Anna Redington Jackson. She married Lewis Carter, in 1950; he preceded her in death in 2017, after 66 years of marriage. She graduated from Monett High School in 1949. While raising her family in 1969, she earned her bachelor’s degree and in 1981, earned her master’s degree in education. Ruth taught 5th grade for over 25 years with the Joplin School District at Washington and Royal Heights Elementary Schools. She was an active member of Byers Avenue United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
Survivors include: sister Kay (Art) Rutledge; sons, Mitchel (Gale) Carter, Stan (Beth) Carter; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: sisters, Wautheda Wilson and Maxine Lee; brothers, Norman Jackson and Oran Jackson; and one grandson.
A funeral service was held Nov. 19, at Byers Avenue United Methodist Church, 1730 Byers Aveue. Interment followed at New Liberty Cemetery (King’s Prairie) in Monett.
