Sen. Roy Blunt won’t seek reelection to U.S. Senate

United States Senator Roy Blunt announced Monday, March 8, that he will not seek reelection at the end of his term in 2022.
Blunt, a Missouri native and graduate of Southwest Baptist University and Missouri State Un i v e r s i t y , has served as the Greene County clerk, Missouri Secretary of State, and began his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, Missouri’s 7th Congressional District, in 1996.
Blunt successfully ran for the U.S. Senate in 2010, where he has since served.
“After 14 General Election victories—three to county office, seven to the United States House of Representatives, and four statewide elections—I won’t be a candidate for reelection to the United States Senate next year,” Blunt said in a press release. “I want to thank my family and thank the great team that came together to help me work for you.”
