Drug house nets paraphernalia, two arrests
Six Aurora residents were taken into custody when the Aurora-Marionville Police Department executed search warrants on two different houses the week of Sunday, Jan. 29.

The first warrant
The AMPD executed their first warrant on a house occupied by Randy Carey, 51, Charles Huse, 53, Amber Tucker, 35, and Cynthia Barnett, 50, on Sunday, Jan. 29. Each of them face charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Huse and Tucker are also charged with unlawful use of a weapon, while Carey and Barnett are also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.
According to the probable cause statement in the case, AMPD officers executed the search warrant on the house based on a tip the police received from a confidential informant. The informant told police that the four were seen unloading and moving several weapons into the interior of the house.
While searching the house, the officers reportedly found a .22 caliber rifle with a magazine and ammunition, a nine-millimeter pistol with magazines and ammunition, a glass pipe with burnt white residue, two broken glass pipes, and a small vile containing a powdery white substance. The items turned up in the search reportedly tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine. All four of the house residents were arrested and booked into the Lawrence County Jail later that evening.

Reasons behind weapons charges
Carey and Barnett have prior felony convictions, making it illegal for them to possess firearms. Carey has convictions for stealing, resisting arrest, assault and multiple convictions for possession of a controlled substance.
Barnett has prior convictions for unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance. Huse and Tucker are each charged with unlawful use of a weapon as they each allegedly possessed the confiscated firearms while also allegedly possessing methamphetamine.

The second warrant
AMPD officers executed their second warrant on an alleged drug house occupied by Robert Binford and Jenny Riddle on Thursday, Feb. 2.
According to the probable cause statement, the officers obtained evidence against Binford, 52, and Riddle, 46, in mid-January when they sent a confidential informant to their house to purchase illegal narcotics. While officers watched, the informant went to the house and left within the same 24-hour-period; they then provided the officers with a bag containing a white crystalline substance. The informant said the bag contained meth, and that they purchased it from Binford. The substance was tested with a Nartec testing ampule, which showed positive for methamphetamine.
After the officers executed their warrant, Riddle reportedly told them that she and Binford had been selling meth and marijuana from their residence, but they (the officers) wouldn’t find any meth in the house that night because they had sold of theirs three to four days earlier and were out. She also allegedly told one of the officers that they would find pipes used to smoke meth and scales used to weigh it, but nothing more.
When Binford was questioned, he allegedly told officers that he wasn’t “a distributor of methamphetamine that day,” but didn’t explain what he meant in saying that. According to the probable cause statement, he did say he sold marijuana.
A search of the master bedroom in the house turned up two glass pipes, one of which was tested and showed positive for methamphetamine. A digital scale was also found, as well as a wooden box containing a grinder, rolling papers and 10.34 grams of a substance believed to be marijuana.
Binford and Riddle were both taken into custody charged with delivery of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Huse and Carey, appeared in court on Monday, Feb. 6, for bond hearings. Huse is next scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Monday, Feb. 27, while Carey is next scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Monday, March 6.
