New Lawrence County Jail may open in June
The incoming Lawrence County Law Enforcement Center, 1525 Missouri Drive, Mt. Vernon, may open as soon as June, said Lawrence County Sheriff Brad DeLay. Admitting progress seems slow, DeLay said “literally everything is still being worked on.” DeLay confirmed the building is all enclosed and the cells are in, but added that there’s still a lot to do, including heat and AC, wiring and a lot of other things. The original completion date was set for March 2024.
