Special Buttermilk Pie

The Record’s “Recipe of the Week”:
Special Buttermilk Pie by Alice Wingo

1-3/4 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
3 eggs
3-1/2 T. all purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
9” unbaked pie crust, crimp edges high
1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted

In a large mixing bowl, gradually beat the sugar into the softened butter. Beat until well blended. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in the flour and salt. Add the buttermilk and vanilla and mix well.

Pour the buttermilk mixture into the pie crust. Sprinkle with the toasted pecans. Bake at 300° for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until the filling is set. Cool. Store in the refrigerator.
