Steven Duane Ward

Steven Duane Ward, 69, of Mt. Vernon passed away Feb. 7, 2021, at his home. He was born Sept. 7, 1951, in Anderson, Ind., the son of Orval and Jarilynn (Coverdale) Ward.
He attended Madison Heights High School, in Anderson, Ind. and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was a master carpenter and building contractor in California for several years before moving to Missouri. He was a member of the VFW Post 2590 in Carthage.
On May 9, 1998, he married Ronda Jean Griffin, in South Lake Tahoe, Nev.
He is survived by his wife, of 22 years, Ronda; mother, Jarilynn Ward and brother, Randall (Denise Fast) Ward all of Marina Del Ray, Calif.; sister, Debbie (Tom) Apgar of New Palestine, Ind.; daughter, Chasity Knifley, of Anderson, Ind.; two grandsons and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Orval Ward.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon and in New Palestine, Ind., at a later date to be determined.
