Sue Ann Childress

Sue Ann Childress, 82, of Monett passed away Feb. 16, 2021 at Aurora Nursing Center, Aurora with her children by her side.
She was born on May 10, 1938 in Aurora, daughter of the late Frank Russell Robbins and Ella Nancy (Hilton) Robbins. She graduated from Monett High School with the class of 1956 and then attended cosmetology school. For over 39 years, she owned and operated Sue’s Beauty Shop and also the Diet Center for over 27 years.
She was a faithful member of New Site Baptist Church.
On Sept. 30, 1956 in Monett, Sue Robbins and Earl Childress were united in marriage. To this union, they were blessed with three children.
She is survived by her husband, Earl; daughter, Mendy Hubbard (Alan) of Aurora; sons, Dennis Childress (Beverly) and Doug Childress (Susan) all of Monett; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sister, Charlotte Waggoner (David) as well as a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by brother, Russell Robbins and sisters, MaryLou Hillhouse, Barb Bushnell and Joy Robbins.
A private funeral service is being held with plans for a public celebration to be held at a later date. Memorials have been suggested to benefit the music ministry at New Site Baptist Church in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
