Thelma June Hodges

Thelma June Hodges, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on May 11, 2019 in the Lawrence County Manor following an illness.
She was born on June 17, 1932, in Chesapeake, MO to George Franklin Blevins and Josephine (Pryor) Blevins. Thelma was born in Lawrence County and after finishing her schooling in Miller, she went to Kansas City and worked at Westinghouse where she met Frank Hodges and they were united in marriage on December 9, 1951 in Miller Baptist Church. They had 2 sons, Russell and Marvin. They lived in Kansas City for 38 years then after Frank retired, they came back to Mt. Vernon in 1988 where Thelma resided until her death.
Thelma loved the Lord and gave herself to him at the age of 14. Thelma taught Sunday School for 25 years, she sang in the choir and was a faithful member. Thelma owned a Bed and Breakfast in Mt. Vernon for 5 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six brothers and three sisters. Thelma is survived by her two sons and their families.
Funeral services for Thelma will be on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 10:00 am in the Mt. Vernon Christian Church with the burial following in Mt. Vernon City Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
