Town hall meeting Oct. 19 at MARC on proposed parks tax

One question on the Nov. 2 ballot will propose a 1/2 of 1 percent sales tax which will be used to greatly enhance the Spirit of ’76 Park in Mt. Vernon. If passed, the tax would pay for a new baseball field/softball field, soccer/football field, new concession stand with restrooms, new playground and repairs to the city pool which is currently leaking 30,000 gallons of water per day.
The Mt. Vernon Board of Aldermen will hold a town hall meeting on the proposal at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the MARC. All citizens are encouraged to attend this informational meeting.
