Vernon Willis Hil

Vernon Willis Hill, age 85, known to his family and friends as Vern and to his grandchildren as Pa, passed away at 8:55 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at his home.  Vern was born June 4, 1933, in Jackson County, Missouri, to Willis and Cleo (Royster) Hill.
Vernon spent his life in the Kansas/Missouri area, and for many years ran his own business, Vern’s Sanitation and Sewer, in Wichita, Kansas.  After retiring, he moved back to LaRussell where he continued to work as a general contractor.
Vern is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Kennedy and Vicki Dickey and her husband, Douglas, all of La Russell,  Missouri; two brothers, Anthony “A.B.” Hill and his wife, Eleanor, of Miller, Missouri and Randy Hill of Sarcoxie, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Arnold (Teresa) Fisher, Bradley (Monica) Fisher, Jeffrey Hill, Lincoln (Samantha) Cooper, Conner (Natalie) Cooper and Courtney Kennedy and several great-grandchildren.
His parents, Willis and Cleo, son, Robert E. Hill and his wife, Daphne, grandson, Robert V. Hill, four sisters, Jewell Hill, Geraldine Whitehead, Phyllis Dryer, and Margaret Snow and two brothers, Gene Hill and Darold Hill preceded him in death.
A man of compassion, generosity and an ever-present sense of humor, Vern will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, in Miller.
