VICKIE LEE (GOMEZ) O’BRIEN

Vickie Lee (Gomez) O’Brien, 76, of Springfield passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025. She was born in Abilene, Kan. on May 27, 1948; the daughter of John and Goldie (Jacobson) Gomez.
She graduated in 1966 from Stuart High School in Stuart, Iowa.
She married Charles O’Brien on July 15, 1967. She and her family moved to the Springfield area in 1978, where she continued her education at Missouri State University. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1983, then taught for many years in Miller, Greenfield and finally at Central High School in Springfield, adding a Master’s of Science in 1992 along the way. She enjoyed spending time with the Red Hat Ladies and her brunch friends, as well as her Class of ‘66 friends and Iowa family.
She is survived by her daughters, Kim (Dusty) Hicks and Kelly (Bill) Duncan; son,  Kevin (Eddie) O’Brien; two granddaughters; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; her ex-husband, Chuck; and her step grandchildren; her nieces and nephews; her sisters: Charlene Beeson, Deb (Roger) Elliot, Audrey (Larry) Gomez  and her twin brother, Rick (BillieJo) Gomez.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services were held on Friday, May 23, at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart, Iowa. Burial was in the South Oak Grove Cemetery in Stuart, Iowa.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart, Iowa.
