Virgil E. Jameson

Virgil E. Jameson, 94, of Monett, passed away Aug. 30, 2019 at Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett.
Jameson was born June 11, 1925 in Valeda, Kan., to the late John W. and Olive F. (Barnard) Jameson. He graduated from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan. Jameson served his country honorably in the United States Navy during World War II, where he was stationed in the South Pacific. He was employed by Beech Aircraft Aviation in Wichita, Kan. as a technical writer, retiring after 40 years of service. Jameson was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monett. He enjoyed building model airplanes, being involved in theatrical entertainment and being with his family.
In 1949 in La Cygne, Kan., he married Maretta Reinke. They were blessed with 66 years of marriage before her passing in 2015.
Jameson is survived by: son, David W. (Cathy) Jameson of Monett; daughter, Rebecca (Daniel) Blunt of Boalsburg, Penn.; four grandchildren; as well as six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sept. 6, 2019 at Buchanan Funeral Home. Graveside services followed at the Edna Cemetery in Edna, Kan. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett.
