Virginia Lee Payne

Virginia Lee Payne passed away on Sunday, March 8 in her home in Lenexa, KS with her children at her side.
Virginia was born October 21, 1930 in Carthage, MO.  
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Ryan and Verda Fay Matthews of Verona, MO; her husbands, J.B. Burson and Floyd Payne of Mt. Vernon, MO; one sister, Louise Spencer of Carthage, MO and one brother, Max Matthews of Greenville, SC.
She is survived by one sister, Frances Tucker (David) of Monett, MO; sons, Max Burson (Georgia) of Wichita, KS, Ryan Burson (Jane) of Washington D.C., Barton Burson (Kathy) of Los Alamos, NM, Kent Burson (Ruthie) Jefferson City, MO and daughter, Mary Jensen (Jack) of Lincoln, NE; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
During her formative years she grew up during the depression where she lived on a farm helping her parents and attending a one-room school house with her sisters.  She lived and worked for many years of her life in Southwest Missouri where she raised all of her children.  Virginia moved to Overland Park area in 2002.  She loved to play bridge, cook, and spend time with friends, family and her furry companions.  
Her visitation began at 10:00 am, followed by an 11:00 am, funeral service at Atonement Lutheran Church, 9948 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS on Friday, March 13, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vitas Healthcare Hospice of Lenexa, KS.
