Wacky Cake

The Record’s “Recipe of the Week”:
Wacky Cake by Emily Smothers

1-1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 cup cocoa
1 cup cold water
1 T. vinegar
1 T. vanilla
1/3 cup salad or cooking oil

Sift together the dry ingredients into a 9x9-inch pan. Do not grease or flour the pan. Make 3 wells; in 1 well pour vinegar, in another vanilla, and into the last salad oil. Carefully pour cold water over top of cake. Mix right in the pan until well blended. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes. Can be served as is or frosted.
