For those who utilize the walkway around Williams Creek Pond in Mt. Vernon, your path just got a little nicer. At a final cost of $4,113.60, the city of Mt. Vernon was able to add a slightly elevated concrete walkway under which waters will flow from the pond during flooding. The addition was made on the pond’s west end where water already spills out during heavy rain. Mt. Vernon City Administrator Max Springer said the old concrete was removed from the spot and will be used to stabilize the bank on the east end of the pond where the creek is
eroding the bank. (Photo by Ryan Squibb)
