William David Hastings

William David Hastings, 66, of South Greenfield, passed away March 11, 2019, at the Sarcoxie Nursing Home. He was born April 9, 1952, in Miller, to William Howard and Alice Delores (Barker) Hastings.
Hastings was born at home on the farm he was raised on west of Miller. His passion for fishing and camping developed at a young age. He spent many an hour fishing at Dilday Mill and Stockton Lake. He especially enjoyed night fishing.   
He was one of six children that worked and played hard on the farm. He was blessed with a very large family that gathered frequently for a Sunday meal or to make ice cream. Eddie Faucett (cousin) and Hastings developed a special bond that was there during the good and hard times of their lives. They even made a trip to St. Louis for tryouts for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Hastings was a 1970 graduate of Miller High School and was a United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam era. He was stationed in Germany during that era and work with a communication team. He was a pipe fitter and a member of the Miller Christian Church.
Hastings is survived by: sisters, Delores Vandergrift of Alba and Alethea Goodman of Mt. Vernon; brothers, Kenny (Pattie) Hasting of Mt. Vernon, Kelly Hastings and Dave Cowan, of Carthage; and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents and brother, Gary Hastings.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at the Goss Cemetery southwest of Miller. Arrangements are under the direction of the Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home in Miller. Online condolences may be shared at www.Fossett-MosherFuneralHome.com.
