Crews are nearly finihsed with sidewalk work along Hickory Street in Mt. Vernon. Earlier reports from the contractor and city state that work should be finished by July 1. Much of the concrete has been poured to this point but remains wet as of June 26.
Another business joins the Mt. Vernon Area Chamber of Commerce as Holly Wright, owner of Into Creation Travel, cuts the ribbon. The event took place at KeenBeen Coffee Roasters on June 19.

Jason Lacey, a former Monett police officer, has returned to the ranks as a new school resource officer. He is the first SRO hired through the COPS grant program, and the first officer hired through that program since Jay Reyes was Monett police chief in the late 1990s.
Monett city officials and community leaders gathered on Front Street in Monett on June 14 to dedicate the new Freedom Park on acreage adjacent to the Freedom Silo to serve as a public space for future use.
