It was a full house February 10-12 at Margaritaville Resort at the Lake of the Ozarks where Missouri Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers and Ranchers Leadership Conference hosted more than 600 farmers and ranchers from across the state.

On Thursday Feb. 16, Mt. Vernon High School senior Allie Schubert signed her national letter of intent to continue her academic and softball career at Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, Kan.
This year is her fourth as a member of the Lady Mt’neers varsity softball team.

The Mt. Vernon R-5 School Board approved the creation of two new positions in the district during their meeting on Thursday, Feb. 16. One position will involve a dual-role of special-education teacher and process coordinator, while the other will be a part-time social worker position.

A Pierce City man was booked into the Lawrence County Jail on Jan. 17 for allegedly exposing himself to customers in the city’s Dollar General and was released with electrical monitoring on Jan. 24. About two weeks later, he was back in the jail.

The Aurora School District held a ceremony Friday, Feb. 10, to welcome two new members to its Hall of Fame. Alumni Brian Fogle and Walt Pettit were honored during a ceremony during basketball night festivities.
