The Lawrence County Emergency Services Board signed a contract with the City of Monett on Tuesday, Aug. 20, in which the City of Monett will provide emergency and general dispatching services for the board for at least three years with an option to renew the agreement for up to two years.

Last weekend’s Mount Vernon FFA tractor pull might be remembered not only for what spectators saw, but also what they didn’t see, as the southern lighting unit caught fire causing the lights to completely go out on the south side of the stadium at Mt. Vernon Middle School.

John Hull, owner of Screen Masters in Mt. Vernon, asked the Mt. Vernon Board of Aldermen during their meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 10, for a way to opt out of paying for the single-provider residential trash service which Doty Trash Service is scheduled to begin providing in January of 2020.
