The Aurora Houn’ Dawgs headed into districts with their most successful season since 2009. Aurora came in as the third seed, but fell to host Seneca, 64-61, in an instant classic.

Success for the Lady Cardinals is nothing new. They haven’t seen a losing season on the basketball court since 2014, and haven’t even seen 10 losses in a season since 2017.

Mt. Vernon advanced to the district semifinals Monday night after Kai Brown hit the game winning three with less than 10 seconds to spare. The shot gave the Mt’neers the 40-39 win over backyard rival Monett.

After what has been a very tough season for the Mt. Vernon Mt’neers, they seem to be playing their best ball when it matters most. They defeated Cassville, 56-35, last Tuesday and a very solid McDonald County squad, 70-57, Friday night. The win over Cassville proved to be big as Mt.

The Missouri Southern women's basketball program picked up its 13th straight win this afternoon beating Pittsburg State 77-74 inside John Lance Arena to complete the first season sweep against the Gorillas since the 2006-07 season as Lacy Stokes rewrote freshman scoring records.

On the strength of his career-best, runner-up finish at the spring-opening Advance Golf Partners Collegiate, Western Carolina sophomore and Miller native Presten Richardson was named the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all spring semester competitions through Feb. 15.

The Aurora Houn’ Dawgs are riding high following a Crane Tournament Championship a couple weeks ago and they continued to roll last week with another pair of wins extending their win streak to four. They traveled to Nevada, Tuesday and won a low scoring battle, 49-36.
