With the expansion of the Big 8 Conference from eight teams to 14, two divisions were created, an East and a West. At the conclusion of most sports, the two divisions are scheduled to match up with the same seed from the other division for a showdown contest.

It was a nail-biter at Cassville Tuesday, Sept. 11, as the Lady Mt'neers and the Lady Wildcats battled through three sets before Cassville came away with the Big 8 Conference win, 27-29, 25-19 and 29-27.

The Mt. Vernon cross country team, which was revived this year, competed at Seneca Thursday, Sept. 6. Tristan Gaddis was the top runner for Mt. Vernon, finishing in sixth place overall. Runners included l-r: Tristan Gaddis, Tucker Bittick, Brady Brown, Logan Johnston and Isaac Barker.

The Lady Mt'neers traveled to Seneca Tuesday, Sept. 4, falling to the Seneca Lady Indians in three sets, but rebounded on Thursday, Sept. 6 at home against Neosho, winning in two sets.
