CHARLES ROBeRT (BOB) BALDEN

Charles Robert (Bob) Balden, 95, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2024, surrounded by family. Bob was born in Monett, Missouri to Louis and Rena Balden on April 19, 1929. He was the youngest of 10 siblings; Maxine Brandt, Louis Balden, Edgar Balden, Hank Balden, George Balden, Dorothy Cawthorn, as well as Lucille, Ruth, and Virginia who all died at a young age.
Bob graduated from Monett High School in 1946. He married Robbie Gene Wormington on October 8, 1949. They had two daughters, Susan Moore and Janna Stidham. He was a proud member of the Air Force, serving in active duty for four years and in the Reserve for 14 years.
In 1964, Bob and Robbie moved to Texas where he was a building contractor and then went on to find his passion in the cattle industry. He retired from Friona Industries in Amarillo, Texas at the age of 77. Bob and Robbie moved back to Monett in 2010.
Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was known for his strong opinions, faith in God, and how well he took care of Robbie in her final years. After his death, his family realized how generous he was with various charities. Bob could often be found sitting outside napping or visiting with a neighbor, all while trying to single handedly lower the fly population of Missouri.
Bob is survived by his two children Susan Moore of Lincoln, Nebraska and Janna (Mike) Stidham of Southport, North Carolina and five granddaughters, Kali and Lori Moore and Ashley, Payton and Kelley Stidham.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings; his wife, Robbie, and son-in-law, Gary Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church in Monett with Reverend Brian Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. The family invites friends for a visitation on Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions have been requested for the First United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, 301 Euclid Ave, Monett, Missouri.
