Elizabeth Mahaffey

Elizabeth Mahaffey, 88, of Monett passed away April 17, 2021 while staying at Lacoba Homes in Monett. She was born in Wood, Texas on March 9, 1933; the daughter of the late Frederick and Ada (Sellers) Lemond. She was united in marriage in 1976 in Las Vegas, Nev. to Earnest Mahaffey; he preceded her in death on June 9, 2012.
She was a retired retail office manager, a member of the Assembly of God Church and the V.F.W Women’s Auxiliary.
Mahaffey is survived by daughters, Sherry Stanley of Monett, and Janet Johnson of Abilene, Texas; brothers, Doyle Lemond of Abilene, Texas and Carl Lemond (Doris) of Grandbury, Texas; sisters-in-law, Merle Lemond of Brownwood, Texas and Betty Lemond of Michigan; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren (one on the way); two great-great-grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, S.C. Lemond, Erwin Lemond and Guy Lemond and sister, Mary Pierce.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s.
Visitation for Mahaffey is being held on Thursday April 29, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at the Girdner Funeral Home located at 141 Elm Street, Abilene, Texas. Funeral services are being held on Friday April 30, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the North Park Assembly of God Church located at 1918 Jameson St., Abilene, Texas. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at the Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery in Abilene, Texas.
Local arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett.
