Harold Ralph Huggins

Harold Ralph Huggins, age 83, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 5:37 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center. He was born January 19, 1942, in Columbus, Kansas, the son of Bud and Alta Laverne (Hall) Huggins.
Harold was a 1960 graduate of Columbus Unified High School in Columbus, Kansas. Harold retired after 26 years from Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1986 Harold and Georgia moved to Mt. Vernon, where they became the owners and operators of the Bel Aire Motel for thirteen years. After selling the motel he went to work for Silgan Containers in Mt. Vernon for seven years and then retired from True Value. He enjoyed going camping, fishing, and reading.
On March 25, 1961, he married Georgia Lee DuVall at the First Presbyterian Church in Columbus, Kansas.
Harold is survived by his wife of 64 years, Georgia; three sons, Robert Huggins and Daniel Huggins, both of Mt. Vernon, Missouri and Timothy Huggins of Lansing, Kansas; one sister, Elaine Capps of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother, Jarold  Huggins and his wife, Julie, of Diamond, Missouri; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph, and Alta and two sisters, Carmen Huggins and Sue Purcell and her husband, Leonard.
A visitation was held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon. A graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Columbus, Kansas.
