Houn’ Dawgs bounce back with two big wins

Aurora baseball was in unfamiliar territory as the Houn's were coming off a week where they went winless after a loss to Camdenton. With undefeated Strafford coming to town, coach James Hoffman wanted to get back to the familiar winning ways of Aurora.
They didn’t disappoint as the sixth best team in Class 3 came to town to defend their 8-0 record. This force is a defending district champ and a group of seniors who took second in the state Final Four their freshman year from Strafford. The Houn’ Dawgs made easy work of the Indians as Jaesik Friggle, Aaron Fisher, and company struck early and shutout Strafford, 9-0. Next on the schedule was a 3-8 Clever. Clever proved to be tougher than their record as they held a 1-0 lead after two innings. However, the deficit didn’t last long as a big five-run third inning gave the Dawgs a lead and they didn’t look back en route to the 12-2 run rule victory.
Aurora sits at 7-3 on the year going into another big week. The Dawgs traveled to 9-2 Hollister on Tuesday and will return home Thursday to a tough Fighting Irish squad from Springfield Catholic at 4:30 p.m.
