James Phalonus Pattyson

James Phalonus Pattyson, 93, of Aurora, passed away August 13, 2019, while at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon.
Pattyson was born March 19, 1926 in Dawson, Okla., to the late John and Ethyl (Evans) Pattyson. Following his school years, he served his country honorably in the United States Navy during World War II. He was aboard the USS Tatum as Coxswain and saw action in the Phillipines and Okinawa, and entered Japan as part of the occupation force. Pattyson was discharged in 1946. Following the war, he worked for many years as a service employee for the State of Missouri. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and enjoyed fishing and watching Cardinal’s baseball.
In 1944, he married Uldine Ivonne Scott in Kansas City. They were blessed with over 53 years of wonderful memories before her passing in 1998. To this union, four children were born.
Survivors include: sons, Dwight James (Deborah) Pattyson of Marionville and Charles Edward (Ginny) Pattyson of Holts Summit; one son-in-law; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He  was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; son, Darrel Pattyson; daughter, Cheryl Jean Pattyson; sister, Imogine Clement; and one grandson.
Graveside services were held Aug. 16, 2019 at Nolan Cemetery, Galena. Arrangements were entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, 301 Euclid Ave, Monett.
