Joe Reed Carney

Joe Reed Carney, 91, of Crane, son of Jim and Bertha (Hilton) Carney, was born March 16, 1928 in Cape Fair and passed away Aug. 28, 2019.
Upon graduating from Crane High School and a brief stay in California, Carney received a degree in agriculture from the University of Missouri at Columbia. Upon graduation, he joined the US Air Force where he attained the rank of captain and was a fighter pilot in the Korean War.
After a medical discharge, life eventually led him to Maryland where he became involved in real estate as well as enrolling in law school at the University of Baltimore earning a Juris Law Degree and his doctorate in 1973. In 1976 he then attended Christian Life College in California graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in theology.
He is survived by: his wife, Ramona Carney of Crane; children, Joshua (Rebecca) Carney of San Antonio, Texas, Carol (Keith) Butler of Berryville, Ark. Kay of North Carolina, David of Florida, Jimmy, Dana, and David of California; sister, Lorine Eitel of Aurora; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends; Carney was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Bill, Marvin, Woodrow, James Lewis (an infant); and sister, Pauline Moreland.
Services were held Aug. 31, 2019 in Stumpff Funeral Chapel in Crane. Burial held in Crane Community Cemetery, Crane, under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home in Crane.
