JOHNNY BERTON STIREWALT

Johnny Berton Stirewalt, age 81, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 5:18 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024, at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center. He was born November 3, 1942, in Miller, Missouri, the son of Seigel and Veva (Bowerman) Stirewalt.
Johnny was a 1960 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and was a United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War era. He worked as a lineman for the entirety of his career, mostly with City Utilities in Springfield, Missouri. He was a member and deacon at Chesapeake Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Missouri.
Johnny married his soulmate and true love, Sherry Ann Brown, on December 1, 1962, in Miller, Missouri. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2008, following 45 years of marriage.
Johnny is survived by his daughter, Ericka Louraine, and her husband, Mikeal, of Jefferson City, Missouri; one brother, Rodney Stirewalt and his wife, Ruth, of Clever, Missouri and three grandchildren, Emily, Jake, and Luke Louraine.
Johnny was also preceded in death by his parents, Seigel and Veva.
A visitation and funeral services were held on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Burial followed at the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to Chesapeake Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home.
