Johnson named MV School District’s February MVP

On Thursday, Feb. 22, the Mt. Vernon School Board presented Sarah Johnson with the February MVP Award. Johnson is the Care Coordinator working with students, parents and staff in the Mt. Vernon School District.

When nominating her for MVP, some of her peers said:

“Sarah is an exceptional individual, embodying empathy, resourcefulness and dedication in her role. Her ability to provide support to students, parents, and staff across various needs speaks volumes about her commitment to fostering a safe and nurturing environment. With her extensive knowledge of resources, diagnoses, and the Children’s Division, she’s a valuable asset to the Mt. Vernon community. It’s easy to see that her efforts are making a significant positive impact, and her dedication to helping others is truly admirable.”

“Sarah’s positive attitude and genuine care shine through in every aspect of her work. It’s remarkable how she maintains a sense of calm and compassion, whether she’s supporting a student through emotional challenges or advocating for them in an IEP meeting. Her ability to approach each and every situation with a smile and a positive outlook not only uplifts those around her but also creates a supportive and nurturing atmosphere. Sarah’s dedication to her role is truly commendable and her ability to handle challenging situations with grace and care sets a wonderful example for everyone in the school community.”
