Josephus (Joe) Madewell

Josephus (Joe) Madewell, 84, of Aurora passed away in his home May 14, 2022 while under the care of Good Shephard Hospice.
He was born Nov. 9, 1937 in Stone County to Joe and Georgia (Medlin) Madewell. He married Linda Wheeler on June 20, 1959 in the home of Reverend Cecil Daniels of Willard.
He had many jobs in his lifetime, but the one he loved the most was working for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He raised registered Gelbvieh cattle while on the farm. He also kept bees and had a garden.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Kristy of Forsyth; son, Michael of Verona; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; sister, Nan Eutsler of Aurora and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy, Washie, John Henry, and Bobby; and sisters, Vesta Chambers and Juanita Earhart.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel.
No visitation is planned. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
