Local Women’s Justice Award winner opens law practice in Mt. Vernon

On May 16, 2024, Taylon Sumners-Schwartz received the Missouri Lawyers Weekly Women’s Justice Award. This award recognizes Missouri women who demonstrate leadership, integrity, service, sacrifice and accomplishment in improving the quality of justice and exemplifying the highest ideals of the legal profession. Sumners-Schwartz was specifically recognized in the Litigation Practitioner category for her career in the courtroom as a criminal defense attorney.
About Sumners-Schwartz
Sumners-Schwartz spent 9 years working with renowned criminal defense attorneys Dee Wampler and Joseph Passanise at Wampler & Passanise working her way up from an intern to an associate attorney before resigning to start her own practice near her hometown of Aurora.
Sumners-Schwartz is a lifelong resident of Aurora. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Nebraska Wesleyan University, later attending law school at Washburn University School of Law where she received Dean’s Honors. She has been recognized for her advocacy and dedication to the community, receiving the Springfield Business Journal’s Trusted Adviser Award, Missouri Lawyers Weekly Up & Coming Award, AVVO’s Client’s Choice Award, Best Lawyers Ones to Watch, and currently serves as Co-Chair of Go Red for Women raising funds and awareness for the American Heart Association and the 39th Circuit Bar President.
