Loretta Josephine Hurlbut

Loretta Josephine Hurlbut, 99, of Monett, Missouri was called to her Heavenly home on Thursday, August 27, 2026 while staying at Lacoba Homes in Monett, Missouri. She was born in Pulaskifield, Missouri on July 4, 1927: the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Staponski) Dombroski.
She has been retired for an extended amount of time but during her career she worked at Vaisey-Bristol shoes in both Monett and Cassville for many years. She also worked as a retail clerk in Monett at Jack Frost printing and finally at Brownsberger’s department store.
Loretta enjoyed a very active social life. She painted with the Geri Carey art group for many years and was an accomplished oil painter whose portfolio included many floral and landscape paintings. She also designed flower arrange- ments and decorative cakes for weddings and other events. She was active dancing anytime she could at the Monett Park Casino and Pierce City. She enjoyed many trips to Stella to dance with her friends.
Loretta was a member of the Saint Lawrence Parish since 1968. She belonged to the ladies’ groups and sang in the choir especially at Christmas time.
Loretta is survived by one son Ronald Hurlbut of Monett, one daughter Nancy Moore of Bran- son, Missouri, one sister Margaret Washeck of Monett, Missouri and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Josephine and one daughter Cathy Hurlbut.
Rosary for Loretta is being held on Tuesday September 1, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. and visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri.
Funeral Mass is being held on Wednesday September 2, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Monett, Missouri with Father Isidor officiating.
