MARILYN E. STEWART
Marilyn E. Stewart, 85, of Mt. Vernon passed away on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024, at Oak Pointe in Monett. She was born May 31, 1938, in Carthage, the twin daughter of the late Martin and Milda (Schoen) Kleiboeker.
She grew up on a dairy farm in the Freistatt area and attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Pierce City High School.
She married Jack L. Stewart on Oct. 6, 1956, and they were blessed with two children.
She started her career as a nurse’s aid at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Monett and then in Joliet, Ill.. When she returned to Missouri she became a teller at 1st National Bank in Pierce City where she eventually became the first woman officer of the bank. In later years, she worked in the office at Willow Brook Farms.
She is survived by her son, Brad (Marla) Stewart of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Marcia (Jeff) Parrigon of Pierce City; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her best friend and twin sister, Carolyn Fritz; and her adoring husband, Jack Stewart.
Visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, at the Buchanan Funeral Home Chapel in Monett. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt, with Rev. Jake Sletten officiating. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
