MIKEL KELLY AND MONTA MORRAINE GOODMAN

Monta Morraine Goodman, age 66, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 8:06 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at her home. Mikel Kelly Goodman, age 76, passed away at 10:46 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
Monta was born March 26, 1958, in Amity, Missouri; the daughter of Eugene K. and Fannie Lorraine (West) Eaton.
Mikel was born May 30, 1948, in Lawrence County, Missouri; the son of Gustavus Adolfus and Julia Caroline (Justus) Goodman.
Mikel and Monta were married on January 26, 1988, in Miami, Oklahoma, and celebrated their 36th anniversary this year.
Mikel and Monta both worked for the Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon, Missouri as Certified Nurse’s Aide.
Mikel and Monta are survived by one daughter, Missy Goodman of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; two sons, Christopher Goodman and his wife, Cindy of Halltown, Missouri and Matthew Goodman and his wife, Mary of Republic, Missouri; six grandchildren: Jeremy Goodman, Chester Henderson and his fiancé, Joy Sabalbarino, Amanda Gayle, Gus Goodman and his fiancé, Maddy Bates, Amber Goodman and Joey Goodman; Monta’s two brothers, Douglas Eaton and his wife, Sue of Springfield, Missouri and Alvin Eaton and his wife, Carol of Golden City, Missouri; Mikel’s brother, Jim Goodman and his wife, Marsha of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; and his sister, Carolyn Epps of Miller, Missouri.
Monta was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Lorraine and her daughter, Loretta Goodman.
Mikel was preceded in death by his parents, Gustavus and Caroline; his daughter, Loretta Goodman; three sisters: Willa Kettering, Sue Matejcek and Janet Haskins; and three brothers: Andy, Arther Byron, and Allen Goodman.
A visitation was held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. A graveside service was held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Summit Cemetery northeast of Mt. Vernon.
