Monett police make arrests
Property recovered from spree of entered vehicles
Monett police have arrested two men in response to thefts from unlocked vehicles.
According to Police Chief George Daoud, officers responding to a series of vehicle break-ins from June 30 to July 2, apprehended two men near the 300 block of Pine Street in Monett on July 2. The two were described as white, ages 18 and 19, and Monett residents. They were being held at the police station pending formal charges.
Daoud indicated, “Additional suspects have been identified.”
Residents reported between 13 and 15 vehicles had been entered and various valuable items stolen. All the vehicles were located in the neighborhoods north of Pine Street. Stolen items were recovered in the process of making the arrests.
“The Monett Police Department asks all residents to remove valuables from their vehicles and lock them,” Daoud added.
